Principles and foundations of international relations in light of the covenant of Imam Ali (peace be upon him) to Malik al-Ashtar

Abstract

This research investigates the principles of international relations in light of Imam Ali's instructions (Ahd) to Malek Al-Ashtar because of its significance in the history of humanity. Imam Ali's “Ahd” included the rules and regulations that govern Peoples' relationships domestically and abroad in a way that clearly shows vast Islamic understanding of International Relations. Therefore, it can be safely said that Imam Ali was a pioneer and preceded all modern intellectuals in this area; sensing the role of Muslim State in applying a clever human perception that respects coexistence among world nations. The research has two main chapters with an introduction and a summary.
