الحاجب المنصور ودوره في عصر الخلافة الأموية في الأندلس (329 – 392هــ / 940–1002م) (دراسة تحليلية)

Abstract

This study examines Al-Hajib al-Mansur and his role during the Umayyad Caliphate in al-Andalus through an analytical historical approach. It aims to introduce Muhammad ibn Abi Amir, tracing his rise through various administrative positions until he attained the office of Hajib (Chief Chamberlain), after which he consolidated his authority over the state. The study also explores the measures he employed to eliminate his political rivals, his strategic role in leading military campaigns against the Christian kingdoms in the north, and the development of intellectual and cultural life during his rule. The research adopts the historical-analytical method. The findings indicate that the period of al-Mansur's hajibate represented one of the most brilliant and prosperous eras in the history of al-Andalus, distinguished by political authority and military strength due to his exceptional administrative abilities. However, the study also concludes that the principal criticism directed at al-Mansur concerns his bloody methods for eliminating rivals, as he did not hesitate to remove anyone who challenged his authority. Consequently, the study recommends further research on the Amirid period during the Umayyad Caliphate in al-Andalus, particularly the years following the death of al-Hajib al-Mansur, as this era constituted one of the major factors contributing to the collapse of the Umayyad Caliphate in al-Andalus.
